Time to reform Indian Education

A lot is being said  about the Indian education system & the need to transform it. In recent past we have even seen some steps (rather wrong steps) in this direction by previous Govt.
The quest is to reduce the burden of education on the youngsters,& improve their intellect. What we saw was a change in pattern of examination focussed more on distributing marks & reducing competition. But little was done to make exams & classrooms more interesting.
It is said:- "Education is that what remains after man has lost all he read in school", and all of us admire this. but the question is are we really building an education system on these lines. We are forcing students to memorize more & more facts, Aligning their thinking to a single, outdated , unrewarding & destructive thinking, which prohibit people to think out of box, & takes away their originality from them.
Often, people give suggestion on what shall be done. But I will like to pose some questions???
  1. Why we have a system of appreciating a student from a particular stream more than others.
  2. Why a student from science stream has to study both Physics & Chemistry... Why cant he pick 5 different subjects from 5 different spheres of life.
  3. Why a person has to mug up facts & especially "who said what" to pass an exam?
  4. Why a person has to remember all the formulas when he can always look at them in a book? and finally
  5. Why a student has to give competitive entrance exams after passing the board exams???? Why do board exams exists if they do not mean anything to higher educational institutions.
I believe for those who really understand the spirit with which I have written this post would have understood my point while finding the answers to the above said questions.
Its time when we shall stop teaching our children what others did or said, & start teaching them about what is really important. We shall make them learn to live their dreams.

Blood, Limbs & Brain of the organisation

Ever since the economic world exists people have been thinking of what is most important in an organization.

  • -         Employee
  • -         Finance or
  • -         The owner/ Boss/ proprietor

Many people ask this to me as well. It is really difficult to tell what is more important. If boss is not there whole organization may never have existed. If employees won’t have been working, organization may have died in its infancy, & its needless to say everything is based upon finance.

True but what is most important. I think in a body called organization finance is like blood, employees are like limbs & proprietor is like a brain.

If the blood circulation is not efficient, or there is a deficiency of blood, the body will feel weak & may cease to move. Whichever organ it is, it May not work up to expectations without proper blood supply.

Similarly proprietor is no doubt the brain to think & give command or to control the whole body & direct it, to do right things in right direction.

Limbs are again indispensable. Think of a man with a defected limbs. S/he is always at a disadvantaged position. So employees not only are required but are required to work perfectly. Imagine if any employee not working properly, or as found in some cases working against the organization will prove to be an auto immune disorder. S/he is to be removed immediately just as we cut down a body part with gangrene. It’s better to live without limbs than living with an auto immune disorder.

Same is the case with proprietor in case s/he is on solution or not good will be like an mentally rewarded man using blood & limbs for useless or in some cases harmful things.

Here by calling proprietor a brain. I am in no way taking away the thinking task from employee’s links. Their thinking is very essential & useful is just like a reflex action helping the body to protect itself from unforeseen danger. Here it is to be noticed that brain (proprietor) should give limbs (employees) some liberty to take decision in emergency otherwise they may not be able to stop the unseen harm to the body. Also it is to be mentioned that money generation/ blood circulation & its proper use should be done by all without any need of supervision by brain just like cardiac system independent of brain does it.

If the above said concept is followed the organisation will definitely grow continuously.

Now Some of you may be thinking what about old age. Just like a human body, organisation also acquires old age. Just like body can replace old & useless cells, similarly organisation should also be able to replace old machines/ technology/ employees, which are outdated or useless.

Remember Body becomes weak & old when it looses its capacity to replace old & useless cells with new & fresh ones. So if an organisation is not able remove any such machine, technology or employee which are good for nothing it will surely increase the burden on itself & will grow old & eventually die one day.

Again it is to be understood that its a collective responsibility of limbs & brain to act as an agent of change. Just like each system in our body is self protecting & is capable of Auto correction to an extent So should be the limbs.

Also just like brain feels pain when the condition becomes more problematic or the problem goes out of the hands of (limbs) similarly the top management should come into picture when the employees are not able to tackle a problem.

If some one keeps the organisation according to the above said principle surely the life of the organisation will not only be very long, it will also be full of achievements.
